How do I create an XML Schema?

I am starting to use the XML features in Microsoft Word, and although the
help talks all about attaching and using a pre-existing XML Schema, it seems
to be absolutely devoid of any help for creating one in the first place. I
need to create a simple schema, a task of an hour or less. What is a good
tool for doing this and then working with the schema in Word features?

You need to ask this in an XML newsgroup. I know how to create a schema, and
for a simple one, I just use Notepad. There are various tools out there, but
you're more likely to get advice and a good discussion in an XML group.
