how do I create a new database?

I can't even create a new database to go to file and get extyernal data. I'm
trying to create a table from a comma-delimited text file.

Is there a guide out there?

File... New Database.

There is a guide in there - it's called Help (and it's the right-most menu
item).

If you don't know how to create a new database, start at "Creating and
Working with Databases" (that's the chapter name in Access 2000, it may
differ in other versions). Once you've mastered that, try help for "Import
or link data and objects"
