How do I create a large banner using PowerPoint?

I'm trying to make a 3' banner or poster and have been told to use
PowerPoint. How big should my font be to accomplish this? In my mock-up I
made in Publisher, I used Word Art to give the header a slight arc. Can I do
this in PowerPoint? It looks like my font size options are too limited in
Word Art.
