How do I copy pre-installed OS from one drive to another?

A few years ago I bought a Compaq machine with Window XP Home pre-installed.
I have installed a new motherboard and a second drive into the machine. I
want to copy the OS to the new drive. Can this be done? How?

I cannot uninstall and re-install, since the recovery disks I got with the
machine will not work anymore, since I changed the motherboard.

If sounds like you want to clone your disk... There are a number of
products in the market that will do that for you (usually done when folks
upgrade their drive. My personal favorite in Norton Ghost. Unlike previous
versions, Ghost can be used with XP, and you can clone the drive without
booting on a diskette. I'm sure others have their favorites as well...

The drives that you bought may have the tool that you need. With most
new drives there is a floppy that has the tools that will allow you
to transfer everything from one drive to the new one without any
problems. Some of them use a clone program buil by norton (ghost)
oreven "Clone pc"

Check with the hdd manufacture website if it didn't come with a
diskette for a downloadable one...either to floppy or how to make a
bootable CD for the tool.
