How do I convert "yyyymmdd" to "mm/dd/yyyy via a query

How do I convert "yyyymmdd" to "mm/dd/yyyy" via a query. I cannot change the
field properties in the table.
 
What is the data type of the field your working with? A Date/Time data type
does not present in yyyymmdd format?
