How do i convert a date into 3 seperate columns?

I have a spreadsheet with dates shown as DD.MM.YYYY in text in a single
column but I would like this to be represented as 3 seperate columns. One for
day, one for month and one for year. Does anyone know a formula or command to
do this?
Many thanks,
Tony

Try,

Data|Text to Coilumns
Delimited
Next
Enter your delimiter in the box (.)?
Click finish

You may be making problems for your self if you want them to continue to be
dates

Why not use the DAY, MONTH, and YEAR functions, in three new columns.
You could hide the original date column if you don't want to see it.
