I'm trying to convert an old .bro file to a .doc file. The .bro file was
created using a Microsoft Word template, so I'm not sure why, first of all,
it won't open and, second of all, why I can't seem to convert it. Please
help!

I have Print Shop 21 and it says that a .bro file is a brochure in that
program. Could that be what you have?

According to http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=.bro, a .bro file
has no mention of ever having been a Word extension. (I didn't think it
had but I could have been wrong.) What makes you think it was created with
Word?

.bro is a file type specific to Broderbund template based software. (like .doc, .docx, .xls, etc is created by Microsoft applications)

There are a limited number of programs that can open .bro files.

Broderbund CreataCard
Broderbund PrintMaster 2012 Platinum

Non-Broderbund Programs that list the ability to open .bro files:
(all features may not be available/may not be able to convert to editable file type)

Onyx Computing OnyxTREE Broadleaf
Onyx Computing OnyxTREE Broadleaf
DAZ 3D Bryce 7 Pro
DAZ 3D Bryce 7 Pro
Avanquest Design & Print

Unless you're prepared to install new software on your computer, just to open the file, I would suggest having the creator convert to another format that your computer will recognize.

Did we ever find a way to convert .bro file. Yes, created with Printmaster, which isn't compatible with my new windows 10 pc. So how can I convert them, or find a similar file to redo them. I can not even find a blank brochure type document blank that I can even use..
