how do I clear out the "TO: xxxx" addresses?

I have some email addresses that aren't correct in the little box that pops
up. How do i clear out that buffer of incorrect email addresses?
 
When the incorrect address pops up, use your arrow keys to highlight the
incorrect one and Delete.
