I have a PC running windows XP which is connected permanently via a router
to a cable modem for broadband internet access. The problem I have is that
the site which hosts my website only allows the site to be updated via a
dial up connection, what I need to know is, is there any simple way of
forcing the computer to choose the dial up link to connect to the internet
rather than rummaging about behind the computer and unplugging the network
leads.

All contributions gratefully accepted

You could right click on your network connection and disable it. Then use
the dialup connection. Just enable your broadband connection again when
ready.

I am interested though in knowing more about your hosting site. Whether you
are connecting to the Internet by dialup or broadband should be irrelevent.
Are you saying that you must dial into their service or can you dial into
any ISP then access your hosting site. If it is the latter you should be
able to update your site through your broadband connection.

If my hosting company only allowed me dialup access, I'd quickly find
another hosting company. There are hundreds of hosting sites.

Thanks Bob

I see what you're getting at but since the hosting is free, I only pay to
register the domain which is £16.00 for 2 years and since the site is really
simple and I don't need to access it very often I think on balance it's
quite a good deal (I could be wrong)
