I am working on slides that were created before I got them and I am trying to
change things to make it look better and have updated info. I can add
animation to the slide but I can not figure out how to change it from say a
pentagon (pencil shape) to an arrow. Does anyone know how to do this?

Palmer,
Don't know if I understand your question correctly. But it you are talking
about changing an AutoShape into another autoshape you can use the drawing
toolbar. Select the AutoShape you want to change, click on draw, choose
Change Autoshape, select your new autoshape and you are done.
Hope this helps, otherwise someone else will jump in.

What Luc and Sonia said.

But if you're talking about "tweening" (morphing one object into another)
like you can do in Macromedia Flash, well, PPT doesn't do that.
