How do I change the default when opening a PowerPoint file?

When I do a File open in PPT, it defaults the the "preview" mode and i want
it to be in the "list" mode so i don't have to change the view every time I
go to open up a file..

I believe that the native command in PowerPoint is hard coded to open in
this view.

You could write an add-in that would allow for a different view. Do you
know VBA?
