How do I change Access file extensions from MDP to e.g., aaa

I want to e-mail an access file to another computer which has security
settings preventing its being received by Outlook. If I can change the MDP
file extension to something like "aaa" it should go through. The file
extension can then be changed back by the recipent to MDP. Question, how and
I change the extension. Using rename doesn't seem to allow me to change the
extension.

I will assume that you are attempting to rename the file from the Windows
Explorer. It sounds as if you are not seeing the extensions.

Try this: From the Tools menu, select the "Folder Options" option. Then
select the "View" tab. Locate a check box for the "Hide file extensions for
known file types" option and uncheck this check box.

You should now be able to see and change the file extension.
