By default, Word aligns single labels horizontally to the left and
vertically centered. To use any other alignment, instead of clicking the
Print button in the label dialog, click New Document. If you don't see the
boundaries of the table containing label-sized cells, click Table > Show
Gridlines.
Now select the whole table, right-click somewhere in it, hover over the Cell
Alignment menu item until the submenu appears, and choose the icon that's
centered in both directions.
