How do I calculate parallelism in microsoft access reports?

I am using Access 2000.

I want to calculate parallelism of a surface by collecting 4 different depth
measurements. I would like to subtract the smallest of the 4 readings from
the largest of the 4 readings. In the Access report, I would use a 5th column
to report the calculation from the first four readings (columns). I have
tried using the same calculation in Excel -- with success.

How can I accomplish the same results with Access 2000?

How do you have your data structured in Access? What calculation did you use
in Excel?
