how do i calculate negative hours in excel

I have a staff time sheet which calculates hours worked
It also calculates additional hours worked
How do I get it to show minus hours worked
eg usual cumulative hours = 20
actual cumulative hours =16

the 1900 date system will not show negative time. the 1904 date system will
but in switching it will throw off all of your other dates in the file by
adding 4 years and 1 day to all dates. tricky situation so it depends on how
desperate you are for negative times.
