How do I calculate calendar dates

I have in cell D2: 12/14/2008 and in cell E2: 12/21/2008. I want to count
the number of days, including the first date posted (12/14/2008). I should
come up with 8 days.

Try this:

=E2-D2+1

Format as General or Number

Real dates are just numbers,
so you can subtract it, then add 1, like this:
In F2: =E2-D2+1
Format F2 as general or number
