How do I avoid using IRM in Outlook? I am a confused home user.

As a private home user of Office 2003, I find the new IRM very annoying. I do
not need to restrict permission to anyone, and I resent not being able to
write and send my e-mails directly from Outlook as I have done for many years.

You don't need to use IRM.. it's off by default and don't click the button
to enable it.

Thanks for the quick response, but by default my Office has udated and will
now no longer let me write and send e-mails from Outlook. Word is my editor
and I can send from word, but not from Outlook. Is there something else I can
do?

Outlook is working with the exception of being able to directly send a new
e-mail message. Yes, Word is my editor. Outlook was activated with all of
Office when installed in my new machine in November. I did not save settings
from old machine, so had to start over. Thanks again.
