How do I automatically update cross-referenced figures?

I have a document with about 40 figures (each has an automatically created
caption). I have also used Insert>Reference>Cross-reference to create a
reference withint the paragaph text to a particular figure. When I insert a
new figure somewhere in the document, all the captions are automatically
updated, but the cross-refernce is not. I have to hover the mouse over each
cross-reference, right-click, and select "Update filed" ... that's 40 times I
have to do this... is there a way to make these cross-references update
themselves automatically?
 
No automatic way, no, but selecting the entire document and pressing F9
should do it, as should switching to Print Preview.

Thanks that was a fast and awesome answer! How is FairHope doing... I grew
up in Alabama... --Dawn
 
The weather in Fairhope is particularly glorious right now--and we need
visitors. Katrina did so much damage to the Grand Hotel in Point Clear and
the Gulf beach resort area that we have no tourists in town--it's like a
ghost town.
