How do I automatically file a sent e-mail

I have just moved over from Lotus Notes (in a corporate environment) and have
previoiulsy been given the option when sending an e-mail to save it to any of
the folders set up on my account other than the default "sent" folder.

Is this option available on Outlook? I know about message rules but that is
too restrictive for what I need. Can anyone help as I'm really hacked off
with having to rememebr to keep going to my sent folder and refile all my
messages.

Thanks.

Rules are how Outlook does it out-of-the-box, but perhaps this will be more
like what you want:

Thanks for this.

At least you have confirmed my understanding of Outlook. I'll try the
alternative solution you have suggested as the rules option is far too
restrictive.

You can set an option in each email you compose before you send it out, if
you want to file things into all kinds of different folders. In the open
email as you compose it you should see an Options button (if you don't, it's
also under the View menu). You can choose there where to file an individual
email.

Yes I've found that which effectively does what I want but it's a bit long
winded. Previoulsy I've had one button on the toolbar which you click and it
brings your folders straght up which you then select and everything is done
for you. I know it only saves a few seconds but it was just easy. I've found
the VBA code suggested which will put this funtion on my toolbar and have set
up the Macro but now can't find a way of putting a customised button on the
toolbar and assigning it to a macro. I'll get there eventually, it's all fun !
