How do I autofill data in a column?

I would like for a column to automatically fill in a correlating piece of
information depending on data I type into a separate column. For example: in
column A I type in "4001", the column B would automatically fill in
"Driving". Bonus points if you can tell me how I could have a drop down menu
for the first column's info and still get the autofill in the second column.
