How do I add default picture editor application to Word/email

When I attach a picture to an email and then want to view it to make sure it
is the right one, I get a message that no application is available. I
previously used Dell Image Expert, but it was not good enough so I
uninstalled it. Now I have nothing available. I have Microsoft Digital
Image Pro that I enjoy using, but I cannot find out how to select it as the
default image editor in Word or for emailing. Help!
 
Only Word and Microsoft Photo Editor are available to be selected as the
default image editor. No other selections are possible, not even other
Microsoft graphics apps. Sorry. As for viewing photos in email, that may be
another issue altogether.
