How do always show details in folders?

Every time I do a save as, or open, or open a folder in Windows I end up
changing the view to Details, with most recent at top. It never sticks! Is
there a way to force this?
 
Why are you asking in an Outlook newsgroup? In Windows Explorer, open a
folder and set it to details, go to Tools, Folder Options, View, Apply to all
folders. Also make sure Remember each folder's settings is checked so you can
have some folders show Thumbnails--like Photos.
