I've typed a document in Microsoft Word, and now I'm trying to go back and make corrections. But when I do, it deletes the text ahead. Its impossible to make a document, as I have to re-type everything ahead of me

Someone please help quickly! Thanks! :D

Turn off Overtype. There are three ways to do it:
1. Press the Insert key.
2. Double-click the letters OVR in the status bar so they change from black
to gray.
3. In Tools > Options > Edit, uncheck "Overtype mode".

Press the "INSERT" key to turn off overtype. You can also double-click the
"OVR" towards the bottom middle of the Status Bar to turn it off and on.
Basically, if you see the OVR text on the Status Bar as "black" (or
enabled), you will overtype text.

And this is not just true in Word, but in other applications, like
Outlook Express. If you accidentally press the Insert key, it will
toggle the application to overtype mode, so you just need to press
Insert again to toggle the application back to Insert mode. It took me
months to figure this out. I used to close out of an application and
then re-open it in order to fix this. :-)
