How come the arrange messages by folder option is no longer available? I can
right click on arrange by for inbox, deleted, etc. but the folder option is
no longer highlighted as an option! Who decides to remove options and not
notify you?

Well, if you're in the Inbox, what use would arranging by Folder give you?
It's all in the same folder.

Now, if you're in a Search folder, arrange by Folder should be available
and, there, it would make sense, since your view would include multiple
folders.

I'm guessing you're using 2003. In 2007, Folder isn't even visible when
doing the Arrange By on a folder.

I kept all my deleted messages in folders until I permanently deleted them.
It was already set up that way, then you can refer back to them when needed
and delete the folders that have no meaning or future use to you. 2003
Outlook is what I am using.

Ok, I'm not really sure I follow what you're saying here, but, basically,
when you click on a normal folder, all you see is the mail in *that* folder.
Arranging by Folder would be redundant, since there is only one folder in
the view.

Why don't we drop back to the basic question:

What exactly is it you want to accomplish? Based on what you said above, it
sounds like you'd like to view your Deleted Items folder based on what
folder the messages were *originally* in when they were deleted?
