how can i work outlook 2003 with vista

i have installed office xp, office 2003 student and teacher edition in my
vista and when i run word, excel, and powerpoint they work correctly. on the
other hand outlook when i opened, it tells me that the program is not
responding and that i need to close it and i can't usd. i ave tried to
download the updates from microsoft but it does not work what can i do?
 
Did you configure Outlook (Control Panel | Mail) before you try to use it?

"download the updates from microsoft but it does not work" - can you be
more specific; what do you mean by "does not work"? Do you get an error
code?
