I would like to start from scratch with a PC, it has not been used for a year
or so and seems to have numerous spyware, adware and virus problems which i
can't seem to get rid of plus many other useless programs that have been
gradually added. I have the manufacturer's restore CD however the CD drive
has been changed and i do not have the driver cd for it, nor do i have the
cd's for the anti-virus program installed on the PC. Any ideas anyone?

CD drives do not need a driver.

If you don't have the CDs for your antivirus program I guess you'll need to
go to the store and buy one, won't you?

If it is an ide cd no drivers are needed .Remember that recovery IS from scratch.

As far as antivirus programs are concerned there are a several good free
ones that you can download. I us the free home version of Avast which you
can download from here http://www.avast.com/

cheers guys/girls, guess i'll have to use a free anti virus or go and buy a
new one! I can't seem to figure out how to reinstall windows though, what do
i need to do to wipe everything so i can start again with just windows and
the software that comes on the restore cd?

The restore cd will iether give you some options or wipe everything prior to
install.
It depends on the PC manu.
