How can I view contacts in main mail screen?

Ok, on my previous computer I was able to see a list of my contacts as I was
on the main mail screen so if I wanted to send an e-mail I would just double
click their name and there it was. Is there any way with the windows mail to
have that feature as well? It was to the left side of my inbox and I had
above that my folders then below that was a list of all my contacts. I have
tried everything and was just wondering if that was a feature on windows mail
or not.

Windows Mail can't do that.

No, but you can click on the Contacts button and go from there.

Strange how different people work differently. When I want to
write a new email, I start by composing the body, then worry about
addressing it after the creative juices have done their thing.
Microsoft did a focus group on this and determined that my way
was the most prevalent, so they killed the Contacts pane.

no can do anymore.
2 options,
add the contacts icon to the tool bar.
add contacts to the sidebar.
