How can I specify a more exact date?

Hi,
Office Outlook has these date groupings like Today, Yesterday, this week,
last week, this month, etc. What if I want to find all e-mails from 1/3/2003
to 5/3/2004?
Why do I have to use these pre-determined date groupings?
Can I change them anyway?

Then creating a grouping for that.

Why do I have to use these pre-determined date groupings?

You can't change those, but you can tailor your vew to something more
suitable.
