Hi,

How can I restore files from a corrupted Windows XP backup file? When I try
to restore the backup file, the process stops in its early stages with the
error message: "An inconsistency was encountered in the requested backup
file." Is there anything I can do about it? The files I can't access are
*very* important for me.

Unless the file can somehow be "repaired" you're pretty much dead in
the water. I'm assuming when you say "Windows XP backup file" you're
referring to the XP backup program. The only thing I can suggest is
to try reading the file on another XP system to see if it's hardware
related. If that doesn't work, you may be out of luck unless you want
to spend a large sum of money to retrieve the data from the media.

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

I'm trying your suggestion now--it just finished, but I got the same
error
message. By the way, by "large sum of money" what sort of figure
might be involved?
www.drivesavers.com - These people can restore just about anything.
