How can I remove the automatic hyperlink in an email message?

gThis can be really irritating. I've tried changinf the format but that
doesn't work. I used to be able to highlight the text, change the font colour
back to black and the underline on/off. This no longer seems to work. I'm
using Windows XP, and Outlook within Office Professional 2003. Thanks.

When you have Word as the email editor and composing in HTML format you can
press backspace when AutoCorrect turns the URL into a clickable link to undo
it.

Thanks Roady. I usually use Rich Text and so couldn't see the option for
HTML in the Format drop-down box - yes, even using the 'extra options' symbol
- until after I changed from Rich Text to Plain Text, then it showed as a 3rd
option. (So that's a useful tip I wasn't aware of. Is there a reason all 3
options aren't all shown when the Rich Text box is ticked?)

I re-tried using your suggestion and yes, the backspace does remove the
autoformat, but only on a temporary basis - which does at least allow me to
correct any typing errors. If I then use the space bar or the Enter key it
re-inserts the hyperlink. By trial and error I found that if I follow the
backspace with the Tab key it stays un-hyperlinked but puts a large space
after it. I suppose it's better than nothing.

You can also disable the AutoCorrect option to automatically turn it into
clickable links ;-)

The Outlook editor is not capable of directly switching from HTML to RTF
format or vice versa but the Word editor is.
