In 2003, when opening a message you were able to automatically select text
and paste into another document or application. Now I need to choose Other
actions edit message for each and every message that I would like to copy
text to.

Please help!

You don't have to put the message in Edit Mode just to copy and paste some
text. Select some text with your mouse and press CTRL+C to copy or right
click the selected text and choose Copy.

Ok, let me re-phrase the question... I know how to copy and paste.
However, since my upgrade to Outlook 2007, when I open a message and try to
select the text. I receive a "hand" icon. Therefore, it will not allow me
to select the text.

If I select Other Actions and then select Edit message, I am able to select
the text and copy and paste. However, none of my other colleagues are
experiencing this problem. I as well as others are using HTML format for
email messages.

Nevermind the issue is closed... I found the answer on this page:

http://outlook-tips.net/cs/blogs/outlooktips/rss.aspx?CategoryID=1003

A reader asks: "In Outlook 2007, when I try to select some specific text in
an email, rather than the "select" cursor, I have a "hand" cursor that just
wants to grab the message and scroll up or down. The tool bar offers "Select
Text" as a command, but it selects all, and I can't even control that with
the keyboard. It seems very odd and unintuitive. Do I have my settings
incorrect?"

Outlook 2007's reading pane allows you to "pan" around the message and you
have panning enabled. Click on the little hand above the scrollbar along the
right edge to toggle it off and on. When it's toggled off you'll be able to
select and copy text.

Thanks for your response
