How can I open a .wks file using Excel?

Someone sent me a .wks file. I would like to open it. I have Excel, and am
running Office XP Home Edition.

Thanks in advance!
 
A quick look in Excel, File SaveAs suggests that Excel can save files a
.wks and should therefore be able to open them.

In Excel, does File, Open, dropdown 'Files of types' and select .wk
then browse to the file help?
