how can I make my letter address line single spaced?

In word, the address line every time I hit enter (or return), it double
spaces, but when I type with word wrap, it is single spacing. I want
everything to single space.

This is a function of the "spacing after" setting in the paragraph menu.
Likely, your paragraph style shows 12 or more points of spacing after even
though the copy is single-spaced. Change the style to a smaller number, or
to zero.

You are using a paragraph style with inter-paragraph spacing to format your
address. Either create a style of your own without such spacing or apply one
of Word's built-in styles - by default Word's Normal and Inside Address
styles have no spacing (the latter being provided for addressee information)

As Richard and Graham have suggested, your Envelope Address style presumably
has some Spacing After. Although you could remove that space, a better
solution is to end each line but the last with a line break (Shift+Enter).
