How can I keep transparency background

J

Jan Il

Hi all, PPT 2002 XP Win ME

I have a gif with transparent background that I want to bring into a PPT
slide, but, when it comes in, the background turns to white.

I have tried everything to get it to come in with the transparent
background, but, so far no luck. How do I need to bring this in? I've tried
insert, paste and paste special.

Paste it is any way, then click on the image to select
it. On the "Picture" toolbar, choose the "Set Transparent
Colour" tool and click on the white area of your image.

Windie,
That worked great! I had to make a couple of adjustments to some color to
keep the transparency from taking out me waves from 'round me ghost ship,
but, now she's afloat 'n fine. ;-)

The Peter Pan Project?

Hey Glen!
Windie,

The Peter Pan Project?

How did you know?!?! ;-)) It's really turning out to be pretty cool...if I
do say so meself. I've got the ghost ship animated now in PPT, and working
on the path and timing.

I really am glad you dropped by, besides being very glad to holler at ya
again. ;-)) I'm having a problem with my mist......and maybe you can help
me with it. You see..when I try to bring in my mist, it does not stay mist,
it loses it the misty part, it gets all solid. I tried bringing it in as a
wmf and a png, and do the transparency tool thingie like Mark said that
worked for the other problem, but.....it won't work for my mist. It keeps
messing the mist up. I've created the mist in Corel Draw and saved it as
both a wmf and png, and it is a mist when it leaves Draw. But, when I get it
into PPT, the mist is no longer a mist. And...well...I need a mist. How can
I have a rolling fog without a mist?? See?

I'm doing a normal paste, but, I have tried a paste special....and I've also
lit a puce and a yellow candle, and hummed a few verses of 'On A Clear Day',
but, I'm not sure which one is not working. ??

Do you have any ideas? I'd sure be glad to hear them.

Windie :)

I'm not Glen, but...
I have an idea on how to do this by combining your graphic with a
see-through color overlay, then grouping the two together. Before I go into
too many details, I would like to play with your graphic and see if it will
work. Can you shoot it my way (via email, not cannon) and let me play with
it for a little bit? You know how to reach me - unknot the fake address.

Just got home - It's here. Will look tomorrow morning and post sometime
later in the day. (Away from home/office almost all day, so don't be
surprised if you don't see any ideas from here until Friday.)

I finally figured it out...got the mist rolling in on cue now... <G>

I was losing something in the transparency creation in Draw somehow, and
once I was able to get that squared away, it worked out fine. While I'd like
to see some variation in the degree of density here and there, I'll be happy
with what works....for now anyway.. ;-)

Thank you so much your offer to assist, I really do appreciate it. I'm off
now to try to put a charge into things! <g>

Too cool! Hope I get to see the thing when it is all done. (PS: Just posted
a solution to your lightening problem. Let me know what you think.)

Happy St. Patrick's Day to ya!

We ended up at a Spanish restaurant for dinner on St. Paddy's day.

The waiter seemed very confused when I suggested that they should greet
their customers with a cheery "Tapas the mornin' to ye"

Shouldn't that have been:
"Tapas de mornin' to ye"?
(Couldn't resist.... Glad to have you back so I have an excuse for these
kind of comments again.)
