I am creating a spreadsheet for City use and want to personalize it by
importing our City Logo into the heading area of the spreadsheet. How do I
do this? And do I need to save it into a specific type of document or graphic?

"Headings" on the sheet or 'Headers" when you print the sheet?

Save your logo in just about any graphic format..........jpg's are nice because
they don't take up much room.

To insert it on a sheet just hit Insert>Object>Picture>From File.

Excel 2002 and newer have the ability to apply the graphic to headers or footers
when printing the sheets/pages.

View>Header and Footer>Custom.

Click on the Header dialog and hit the Graphic Icon(second from right) to insert
a picture.

Will be seen only when printed.

To set either of these options up as a Template.................

Open a new workbook. Customize your as you wish.

File>Save As Type: scroll down to Excel Template(*.XLT) and select. Name your
workbook "BOOK"(no quotes). Excel will add the .XLT to save as BOOK.XLT.

Store this workbook in the XLSTART folder usually located at........

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

This will be the default workbook for File>New or the Toolbar button File>New

Do not use File>New...Blank Workbook or you will get the Excel default workbook.

NOTE: Existing workbooks are not affected by these settings.

You can also open a new workbook and delete all but one sheet. Customize as
you wish then save this as SHEET.XLT in XLSTART folder also. It now becomes
the default Insert>Sheet.

More can be found on this in Help under "templates"(no quotes).
