How can I have an envelop icon when I have a new message in anyon.

I have an envelop icon which appears when I have a new item in my inbox but
the icon doesn't appear when they arrive in anyone of my subfolders!!!
 
Version of Outlook? Type of email accounts?

If you use Exchange server, the mail is delivered to the subfolders and
shouldn't trigger the icon.
