Hi all

I have been running Windows XP Pro with SP1 for a short while now, but
my firewall keeps picking up that various Windows services, etc. are
trying to broadcast to ip 224.0.0.22, whatever that is.

What have I done to instigate this and what can I do to stop the
broadcast happening?

Many thanks

Without knowing what "various Windows services" are, it's impossible to
say for certain. Do the normal troubleshooting:

Scan with a current antivirus program (meaning a version not earlier
than 2002 and using updated virus definitions). Also, remove spyware
with Spybot Search & Destroy from www.safer-networking.org and Ad-aware
from www.lavasoftusa.com. Be sure to update these programs before
running them. These programs are free, so run them both since they
complement each other. It is best to run antivirus and spyware removal
tools in Safe Mode. You may also need to run CWShredder and HijackThis
from http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/index.html . Please read the
instructions carefully. HijackThis requires some skill to use.
