How can I get a copy of the REGISTRY previous to an installation of an app?

Hello.

I need to run a demo for a customer, so I installed Oracle
Enterprise 8.1.7 on Windows XP on my laptop computer. I
created and configured an instance of the DB, and later
imported the data, all of which worked just fine.

My problems came when I tried to run the application.
Since Developer was already installed (I connect to the
local LAN as a client) I didn't much worry about it until
that point. Forms wouldn't run (problems with dll's and
the like), so I deinstalled developper and re-installed it
later. Now it works fine (apparently). What happens now is
that I CAN'T START ORACLE SERVICES such as the Listener.

I went and checked the REGISTRY and found that after
installing Developper I lost a whole branch of keys (my
original ORACLE_HOME, where Oracle was installed) which
was replaced by the new branch corresponding to the new
install of Developper (in fact, what the program shoud've
done is to add another ORACLE_HOME).

Now, what I need to know is HOW CAN I GET A "COPY" OF THE
REGISTRY previous to the installation of Developer??

Could anyone please help me?

I would appreciate any comments.

Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
and select a Restore Point that was created prior to the time the problem
became known.

Yes, that's something I could do, but I don't really want
to start over again with all the installation (I'm going
to do that as a last resort).

But is there a way in which I can get a copy of
the "previous" registry, without having to do a restore?

Thank you very much for your help.
