My best guess is that some kind of Asian language support has become active
for Office. If you go to START/Programs you should find an entry for Microsoft
Office and/or Microsoft Office Tools. Under that there should be one for
Languages. In there should be a list of which languages are "active" for
Office applications. Remove any entries from that list that aren't languages
you use regularly on this installation.
