How can I delete past 30 days Email from server without downloading messages?

Derik

Dear All:

Microsoft 2003 Outlook failed to delete all my messages from the server when
I downloaded them, even though the proper checkbox was checked. The E-mail
has been left on the server for 30 days now. I am stuck with old Email and
cannot retreive my new Email unless I go through the entire download process
again, create duplicate Emails in my client etc. etc.

I need to be able to just delete the past 30 days Emails from the E-mail
server without downloading. How can I do this?

Thanks MS for wasting my time again. The 60 day free trail from my brand new
Toshiba laptop is not going well. Yahoo E-mail and others on the web
services platforms are looking like the only truly reliable E-mail solutions
for my desktop. Really unhappy with your products. Why should I pay for
more an update? The products I have from you already now are not working that
well either. Too many bells and whistles that do not work properly . They
all badly done and simply add to the complications of using the softwate and
increase they increase the failure rate of important issues....like Email
that works. My opinion. Unhappy customer.

Seems to work for the vast majority of users - seems like your ISP is at
fault, not the software.

Dear Mille:

A criticsm of an ISP instead of Microsoft Outlook's obvious failure to solve
a particular problem, (erasing a batch of email) )is not really a helpful
contribution. The ISP's failure is already a known problem, which I have to
deal with.

How long have your worked for Microsoft? Make sure that they pay you. The
company has a bad reputation for a good reason....

The suggestion to go mail2.com was helpful.. I am thankful for that
contribution which you did not make. Thanks.

This isn't necessarily an Outlook problem, note.

Dear Rob:

"Most" is an interesting word...lol.

Actually, I really do appreciate this forum, and in a search of past postings
it seems that I am not alone with my problem with Microsoft Outlook 2003.

Other people are having the same problem as I am...basically E-mails left on
the server that keep being downloaded again as duplicates, and cannot be
removed from the server in a batch process. Outlook 2003 has this problem
and apparently XP before it, so this is a very old issue, which Microsoft
should have fixed long ago and has not. There also is no cure for this
problem from Outlook 2003 after it happens.

I am still looking for a batch removal software solution which will remove
old Emails after 30 days without having to download them all as duplicates
first. I am trying to use mailweb2.com, but it looks like it deletes all the
E-mail, not just selected batches. Thank you all for your help. I will keep
on trying to repair the damage that Microsoft Outlook 2003 bas caused.

PS- If you want to see the old Emails on this subject which have been posted
here long before I arrived on the scene, I can copy them for you and re-post
them.

Some ISPs allow one to do this on the server side - i.e., expire messages
after a certain time. There are also freeware apps that allow one to
manipulate messages that remain on the server in various ways. Mailwasher
is an example. The alt.comp.freeware newsgroup would be a good place to
look.
