How can I clear my Taskbar?

I have about 8 programs that start up on my task bar
and they take forever when the computer boots up.

How can I clear these programs from the taskbar so that
my computer will boot faster?

Check the options for these apps, they may have an option to turn off the
start with win.
Otherwise use msconfig
NB some startups may be required for functionality, eg AV / Firewall
