I have more than one contact folder and I would like to save contacts as they
come in, into one of these instead of the ususal defualt 'Contacts' folder.
How do I do this?

This question should be posted in microsoft.public.outlook and not this
discussion group, which is focused on BCM.

That said, however, I would suggest learning to use categories and
category-based filtering instead of using multiple folders. You'll find that
to be more useful. I then usually create temporary folders based on my
categories if I need to use 3rd-party products that do not support category
filtering.

The easiest way to accomplish what you want is to hit Ctrl-6 while in any
part of Outlook (that is the shortcut to switch to the Outlook all-folders
view), click inside the relevant contact folder, and start adding contacts
from that folder.

The reason for your question is probably because you create contacts from
e-mail, which does not give you the option of the correct folder. A tool
that I like to use called Anagram solves that problem differently. If you
don't want to use that tool, you can move your newly added contacts by
switching to a table view, adding a "created" column to that view, and
sorting by the "created" column. You'd then select the contacts you want to
move to another folder with the drag'n'drop process.

Obviously I recommend that your Outlook be in the Ctrl-6 view to do that.

I do not know of a way to manually set a different contact folder as the
default and MVPs seem to concur with my opinion based on my research.

There is a way to do this with some custom coding, but I doubt that's what
you wanted to hear.
