How can I change default format for web page saved in Office 2007

I use Word to publish pages to my web site. Every time I save it I have to
change from the default .mht to the .htm that I want. It seems like there
should be an obvious way to change the default to .htm.

MHT is a special format ("Webpage in one File"). HTM(L) is for
"ordinary" webpages.

In the Save As dialog, just select "Web Page" instead of "Single File Web
Page." This is actually more straightforward than in Word 2003, where the
File menu has an option to "Save as Web Page," which defaults to .mht; in
that version it is necessary to choose "Save As..." instead, then select
"Web Page" as above.

Are you saying that after you have saved a document in .htm format, it still
wants to save at .mht?
