How can I change a function key to input a freqently used formula

I'm trying to set up a shortcut to enter today's date with one key stroke.
Can this be done?
 
CTRL+: enters today's date (not volatile)

Hi,

Do you mean that you want to put "Ctrl + Shift + ;" under a function
key ?
