how can i avoid having multiple instances of outlook loaded?

over the period of a day i end up with multiple instances of outlook loaded
and my taskbar full of outlook icons. how can i limit outlook to just one
instance?

How does this happen - automatically? Or do you open and close Outlook
multiple times? If so, it may not close completely. Check with the Task
Manager if this is the case. Add-ons sometimes prevent Outlook from
closing completely. Check what add-ons you have installed.
