When I right-click my desktop and select New one of the options is NOT an
..RTF file.

How can I add that to the list of options?

I think that's the same as having Wordpad added.

Thanks in advance

Allen,

You may use TweakUI to add additional Shellnew entries.

TweakUI v2.10 for Windows XP SP1/XP MCE/2003 [147 KB].

Add or remove entries in the New objects list (ShellNew):

Add items to the New menu manually:

From your site:
"Click Create button in TweakUI and point to the sample document, and choose
Open."

In TweakUI 2.10.0.0 I don't see "Create" to click

Thanks again

It is in Templates.
