How can I add place holders and jump to each one in a document? .

I repeatedly copy and paste a document while doing medical transcription.
The problem being that I am constantly arrowing around and
overwriting/deleting text (long document with certain fill-ins needing
changed each time). Is it possible to set place holders and jump from one to
the next? I use a program at my first job where # is used exactly like this
and to jump from one # to the next is "alt+x". Thanks in advance for your
help. I am using Word 2007.
