Windows XP and IE 6 do not come with JVM, and it must be downloaded and installed from Sun java by
the user.
For this reason, most people have stopped using Hover Buttons.
Note: Java virtual machine and "javascript" are two different things.

They didn't delete the feature of FrontPage.
A web designer should have some knowledge of web design, browser
compatibility, and what works or doesn't work in browsers and in webs.
Sometimes you have to learn some things on your own. It can't all be handed
to you.

You'd have to talk to Sun, who brought legal action against MS. The case was settled several months ago, but MS decided not to include JVM installed on machines/os's anylonger (maybe the court decided that...not sure).
IMO Sun's suit was a shot in their own foot.

At the same time I shouldn't have a feature offered by a microsoft product

What I find surprising is that MS's version of JVM worked/works better than Sun's. JMO. Sun's bogs down and won't shut down..annoying - but we've talked about this before.

The kind of company that does this is the kind of company
obeying the laws and courts- through an agreement with Sun
Microsystems MS may no longer distribute Java
Solution- use newer technologies such as dynamic HTML image
swaps. This can provide even better results as you can not
only use different types of images (ie jpg, gif, etc), the
gifs can be animated.

The MS Version has always been better than Sun's, as it was modified to provide the best experience
for Windows users. If Sun, had thought about this more, they should have allowed all OS vendor to
modified to provide the best experience under their OS.
