Hourglass Flashes

Back again looking for a way to solve this age old issue
of mine, while in Microsoft Word, the hourglass flashes
constantly, I have truned everything off in MSCONFIG and
put them back one one at a time, it appears that when I
put any McAfee virus components on it starts flashing
again. Also could this have something to do with MS Words
macros? This is baffling me.
