I am having the exact same problem. I have tried everyhting. I finally gave
up and downloaded a new browser call Mozilla Firefox. It was suggested by a
friend and it works great no more problems.

Go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced.
Check the box to Disable script debugging.
Uncheck the box to Display a notification about every script error.

1. You might want to refresh your scripting engine:

or

Sometimes there's a corrupt file in the cache and one must go to Tools |
Internet Options and click Delete Files.

2a. Start>Run>Regsvr32 vbscript.dll

2b. Start>Run>Regsvr32 jscript.dll

(WinXP users who have problems with 2a and 2b, see
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers_9.htm)

3. Re-register all DLLs listed in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679

5a. IE Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Browsing>Enable third-party browser
extensions (uncheck & reboot).

5b. Find the hijacker that caused 5a to be checked (or if none were checked,
check for hijackware anyway):

I had the same problem. I have Win ME, and suddenly last year could not send
mail from either Hotmail or BT Yahoo accounts. I tried to uninstall IE6, but
got the same message with IE5, so did a system restore, updated everything
from the Windows update site, no luck. I even bought a copy of anti-spyware
as this was suggested in another post. Insult was added to injury when in the
end I rang Microsoft support (amazingly UK office hours only 8am to 6pm
weekdays) and they would only take credit cards in payment, not debit cards.
Goodbye - no sale.

I have just installed Firefox (easily done), and by using this as my browser
I can now send email at home for the first time in two frustrating months.

Thankyou.
